Volunteer
Many volunteers work at the Community Closet.
They process the donations, run the register, and help with all of the day to day store operations. We ask that our volunteers give at least two hours each time they volunteer. This is usually on a weekly basis but can be bi-weekly, monthly or another set time.
Our volunteers are the heart of our store and without them we couldn't exist. As our way of thanking them and letting them know how every one of them is valued, we have perks in place. These perks include a 50% discount on purchases made the day they work, birthday gifts, gift certificates for Thanksgiving and Christmas, a Christmas breakfast and much more.
If you are interested in volunteering, please stop in or call the store at 717-786-2034 for more information.
How our volunteers see that their time impacts New Hope and their community:
Since we volunteer, they can afford to run their programs
We help take care of our neighbors when we volunteer
I am part of helping people become whole in Christ as I do my little bit
We help our community
It is my pleasure to give back to my community
Benefits for teen volunteers (14 years and older):
Great job experience for future employment
Good reference
Great way to give back to your community while building new relationships
Good way to learn new skills in a working environment
What our volunteers have said
“I like knowing I am helping my community in a small way.”
“There is camaraderie among the volunteers.”
“We have fun as we volunteer together.”
“I like that the store helps our community.”
Staff
Store Manager
I am excited for this very special opportunity to come to New Hope as the manager of the Community Closet Thrift Store. I have served Southern Lancaster County for 20 years as a realtor and will continue my real estate career. I am so proud to give back to the community in such a way that will make a lasting impact on so many lives.
I have lived in Southern Lancaster County most of my life. I have four children and 14 grandchildren. I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, reading a good book and walking my dog.
Faith Aukamp
Assistant Manager
As assistant manager of New Hope’s Community Closet Thrift Shop, Becky enjoys seeing people find items they can use and seeing old items find new, appreciative homes.
Becky is an artist who loves nearly all media. She is inspired by children’s laughter, patinas, vintage toys, etymology, and clouds, to name a few. She is wife to Steve and a homeschool mama of six (she has graduated three already). She loves playing Eurostyle table top games and going on adventures, especially to national parks, with her brood.
Growing up in the pizza business was her proving ground. She loves the variety and daily unknowns that come with both a pizza restaurant and a thrift shop. God is always working, and she loves to observe Him at work.

Brianna Casper
Associate
Brianna is grateful and so blessed by the opportunity to be a part of the New Hope Community Closet family.
She moved to Southern Lancaster County in 2021, and continues to be moved by each person within the community that she meets - a smile meeting a smile at every turn. Kindness overflowing.
As a devoted mother of two, Brianna spends most of her time nurturing and teaching her children the importance of growth, kindness, respect, and the power of the Lord's never ending grace and love.
In her free time, she enjoys writing, photography, crocheting, graphic design, and fellowship with family and friends.
