Volunteer

Many volunteers work at the Community Closet.

They process the donations, run the register, and help with all of the day to day store operations. We ask that our volunteers give at least two hours each time they volunteer. This is usually on a weekly basis but can be bi-weekly, monthly or another set time.

Our volunteers are the heart of our store and without them we couldn't exist. As our way of thanking them and letting them know how every one of them is valued, we have perks in place. These perks include a 50% discount on purchases made the day they work, birthday gifts, gift certificates for Thanksgiving and Christmas, a Christmas breakfast and much more.

If you are interested in volunteering, please stop in or call the store at 717-786-2034 for more information.

How our volunteers see that their time impacts New Hope and their community:

  • Since we volunteer, they can afford to run their programs

  • We help take care of our neighbors when we volunteer

  • I am part of helping people become whole in Christ as I do my little bit

  • We help our community

  • It is my pleasure to give back to my community

Benefits for teen volunteers (14 years and older):

  • Great job experience for future employment

  • Good reference

  • Great way to give back to your community while building new relationships

  • Good way to learn new skills in a working environment

What our volunteers have said

“I like knowing I am helping my community in a small way.”

“There is camaraderie among the volunteers.”

“We have fun as we volunteer together.”

“I like that the store helps our community.”

Staff

Store Manager

I am excited for this very special opportunity to come to New Hope as the manager of the Community Closet Thrift Store. I have served Southern Lancaster County for 20 years as a realtor and will continue my real estate career. I am so proud to give back to the community in such a way that will make a lasting impact on so many lives.

I have lived in Southern Lancaster County most of my life. I have four children and 14 grandchildren. I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, reading a good book and walking my dog.

Faith Aukamp

Associate Manager

Lisa is delighted to be a part of the New Hope Community Closet family as Associate Manager at the thrift store.  For years she was a regular shopper before she was blessed with the opportunity of joining the team.

Lisa was born and raised in Montgomery County, PA and moved to Lancaster County in June 2014. She is a proud boy-mom & kept on her toes!  Lisa’s family currently does not have any fur-kids, but a bird, fish and dog are on the wish list in her house...stay tuned!

In Lisa’s free time she enjoys movie nights with the kids, boating with friends, fishing, visiting family, gardening, girls’ dinner night and various crafting. She also doesn't mind an occasional rainy day nap!

Keeping her relationship close with God & always learning while guiding her children is a very important part of Lisa’s life as well.
